Anthony Billera - Age 45

Anthony has been coming to Get to the Core every 2 weeks for training sessions and massage since 11/00. Presently, he works out in a local health club. He has been a true inspiration to us!!

Date you started exercising on a regular basis:
April 2003

Why did you start exercising? “To build muscle, strengthen bones; to improve my posture and lower my cholesterol. Also, I was reaching an age I felt I needed to start taking care of my body.”

What keeps you exercising?

    * “Most importantly, I feel better after exercise!”
    * “Stretching and Deep Breathing helps prevent muscle tension headaches.”
    * “It puts me in a better mood.”
    * “Exercise has become a hobby.”

Your exercise program: 4 times/ week weight training (25 min.), and cardiovascular exercise (30min.), stretching program 45 minutes before weight training; neck area stretching 20 minutes daily, followed by deep breathing 5 minutes daily

Advice you would give novice exercisers:

    *"Buy an iPod nano, so you can listen to your favorite music during exercise because it
       will make your exercise so much more enjoyable."
    * “The hardest part is starting. Begin at whatever level you are at, and gradually you will
         be able to become stronger and healthier.”
    * “Learn how to breathe when lifting weights or while doing cardiovascular exercises.”
    * “Take time to stretch.”
    * “Utilize a health professional when you start your program to instruct you on your form.”
    * “Invest in a regular massage once a month.”
